my school’s ai detector just said my essay is fake… i wrote it at 4AM WITH TEARS

i literally tested this cuz i was curious how do ai writing detectors work
i put my old handwritten essay (typed it in) into 3 different tools:
– one said “2% ai”
– one said “47% ai”
– school one: “98% ai, call the police” 💀
so yeah, they basically guess based on patterns, not facts

the wild part is teachers treating them like lie detectors 💀
like bro, you asked “how do school ai detectors work?”
answer: badly, sometimes
they’re just probability meters going “hmm this looks kinda bot-ish”
they don’t actually KNOW if chatgpt wrote it or your overachiever brain did

also fun fact, a lot of “how do ai content detectors work” articles say they use AI too
so it’s literally ai trying to catch ai 😭

no wonder false positives happen

ok but real question: what makes them THINK it’s ai?
like what are they actually looking at when people ask “how do ai writing detectors work”

@coffee_zombie from what i read they look at stuff like:
same kinda sentence length over and over,
fancy words but super generic ideas,
no little “mistakes” or weird phrases humans usually have
so if your text is too clean and smooth, ai detectors are like “hmm suspicious 🤨”
