I sometimes tell the bot to include hints on the back that match my personal associations. For example, if a concept reminds me of a story we heard in class, I mention that. The more personal and weird the connection, the easier it is to remember it later. Ai can help phrase those hints, but the ideas come from me.

One more thing: mix old school and ai. I’ll let the tool create cards for the boring factual stuff, but for really hard formulas or diagrams I still draw them by hand. The combination of digital and handwritten cards seems to stick in my brain much better than either alone.

In the end, the best ai flashcard maker is the one that fits your habits. I tried three different ones before finding something that doesn’t annoy me. Don’t be afraid to switch tools if the workflow doesn’t match how you like to study.

Thanks, this is actually helpful. I’ll stop feeding it whole chapters and start giving it cleaner, shorter notes, then edit the cards so they sound like me. Maybe then flashcards will stop feeling like another useless step and finally start working.

ngl the flashcard chaos usually starts earlier: the notes are messy. what helped me was doing a 2-step pipeline: first get a clean summary (bullets + key terms + 2–3 examples), then generate cards only from that summary. if you feed a raw transcript, it invents “what is life?” cards lol. i also tell it “max 12 cards per topic, each card = 1 fact” so it stops bloating. if you want ideas for making the input less cursed, there’s a good convo in https://forumaiverse.com/ai-homework-help-study-tools/any-ai-note-generator-that-doesnt-turn-my-lecture-into-3-pages-of-nonsense/
