Is there a free AI language tutor that actually helps you SPEAK? (Duolingo isn't cutting it anymore) 🗣️

Has anyone tried Speak (the app)? It’s really good but expensive af. If you’re broke like me, text-based AI is the way to go. I write to my AI tutor every morning while drinking coffee. It helps my brain switch to "English mode" (ESL student here) before I go to class.

My hack: I use voice-to-text on my phone to talk to the AI. So I speak out loud -> phone converts to text -> send to asktutor. Then I read the AI's response out loud. It simulates a real speak ai language tutor experience without needing a fancy voice app. It helped my pronunciation a lot because if the phone doesn't understand me, my pronunciation is bad. 💀

@lofi_windowseat That is actually genius?? I’m stealing that. I need to practice for my French oral and I’ve just been talking to my cat (he does not correct my grammar).

I think the best ai language tutor is one that remembers context. I hate when I have to restart the convo every time. Does asktutor remember what we talked about yesterday? Or is it a fresh slate every time?

@pixels_and_pain It stays in the chat history, so yeah. I sometimes have a roleplay going on for days. We are currently planning a hypothetical heist in Spanish. Don't ask. 😂 It’s way more fun than "The apple is red".
