Caktus AI vs ChatGPT for school... is Caktus actually worth the money or just TikTok hype? 🌵

I keep seeing Caktus AI ads literally EVERYWHERE on my fyp claiming it's "better than ChatGPT for students" because it creates citations and doesn't sound like a robot. But isn't it basically just a wrapper around GPT-4?

I'm broke and I don't want to pay $15/month if it's the same thing (that's like 3 coffees lol). Has anyone actually used both? Caktus AI vs ChatGPT — which one is better for writing essays and maybe some coding homework? Is there any reason to switch from the free ChatGPT/Gemini, or is Caktus just good marketing? 🤨

i tried the caktus free trial bc i was desperate. It's... okay? It has nice templates specifically for "Essay" or "Paragraph", so you don't have to prompt it as much as ChatGPT. But honestly the output quality felt exactly the same to me. The "academic" tone is just GPT-4 with a prompt filter. I wouldn't pay monthly for it personally unless you really struggle with prompting.

The main selling point of Caktus is supposedly the "Academic Sources" feature. ChatGPT (free version) sometimes hallucinates links or cites books that don't exist. Caktus claims to use real ones. BUT... if you are paying $15 just for citations, you are getting scammed. I use Edubrain for my research papers. It finds real citations and formats them for free. Plus it generates the bibliography in APA/MLA automatically. Why pay Caktus for something Edubrain does for $0?

I feel like Caktus is targeted at high schoolers who don't know how to prompt yet. "Write an essay about Shakespeare" -> Caktus does it. If you know how to use ChatGPT ("Act as a college student, write an essay about X, use these sources..."), you get the same result. It's basically a "Laziness Tax" for people who don't want to learn prompt engineering. 😂

Wait, does Caktus actually bypass AI detection? They advertise that heavily. I used it once and Turnitin still flagged 15%. It wasn't "undetectable" at all.
