people forget that caktus uses the same underlying models as everyone else. it’s not magic. if you want real academic help, you need a tool that searches the web for sources. i stick to edubrain because it pulls from actual databases for the lit review part. Caktus sometimes just links to generic websites.

Okay, but has anyone tried the Caktus "Code Explainer"? I'm struggling with Java and ChatGPT just fixes the code without telling me WHY. Does Caktus actually teach you?

@panic_at_the_midterm Nah, Caktus coding is weak. If you want explanations, stick to GPT-4 or specific tutoring bots. Caktus is really just a writing wrapper. Don't use it for CS.

Another thing: Caktus Auto-Complete. It's supposed to finish your sentences while you write. I found it super distracting. I prefer writing my own draft and then using an AI to "polish" or "expand" specific paragraphs. I usually paste my messy draft into https://edubrain.ai/ and use the rewriter. It keeps my ideas but fixes my grammar/flow. Caktus tries to take over the whole writing process which I find annoying.

To be fair to Caktus, their marketing is genius. They made every student think they are the "Anti-ChatGPT". But in reality, they are just a paid skin for the same tech. If you have $15, buy a pizza. If you have $20, buy GPT Plus. Caktus is in an awkward middle spot.
